She is now the administrative coordinator for the College of Innovation and Design at A&移动商务 at 达拉斯, living her best life while supporting faculty and students at her alma mater.

A Conversation With Raquel

What would you tell a student who is considering attending A&移动商务?

就读于A&移动商务 is personal and rewarding. You won't get lost in the crowd like at bigger universities. Faculty and staff care for you and help you succeed. You will get to know the administration, such as university president Dr. Mark Rudin, who attends events and interacts with everyone.

What do you like most about being an administrative coordinator?

I can make a difference in the lives of students by supporting the College of Innovation and Design faculty. I work with course scheduling and revisions as needed. I also make the office as welcoming and inviting as possible for faculty and visitors.

What is an important life lesson you have learned?

Giving myself grace when I do not live up to my type A personality. I also have learned to appreciate my strengths and celebrate my achievements, no matter how big or small.

What is your favorite spot in 商务? 为什么?

Dos Laredos Tex-Mex is my favorite spot for authentic and delicious Mexican food. I always order their chicken flautas. The food is great and the staff are friendly and attentive. I love the hometown feel of this place, which makes me feel welcome and comfortable.

Who has been a role model for you? How has this person positively influenced you?

The 学生生活 and Success staff are more than just employees; they are mentors and motivators. Marcy, Kathy and Judy always listen attentively to help students overcome challenges. 作为一名学生, they provided me with useful resources that helped me learn valuable lessons and skills I continue to use.

What do you like to do when you are not working?

I enjoy spending time with my family and close friends when I am not working. I sometimes go kayaking or hiking. My favorite hobby is baking, specifically pies and gifts for my family. One of the most delicious recipes I have ever made is a dulce de leche apple pie recipe I discovered in Magnolia magazine, my go-to source for creative and inspiring ideas. This pie is a perfect treat for any occasion, especially in the fall when apples are in season.
